WASHINGTON — The Senate early Saturday passed a sweeping overhaul of the federal tax code that would end the deductibility of state income taxes and eliminate other popular tax breaks while lowering tax rates for individuals and corporations.

He says the proposal is especially bad for taxpayers in Connecticut and predicts it will follow the same path to failure as the GOP attempt to repeal and replace Obamacare.
WASHINGTON – House GOP leaders unveiled a sweeping overhaul of the U.S. tax code Thursday, eliminating some popular tax breaks while lowering the tax rate for many Americans. Billed as a boon to the middle class by its supporters, the tax overhaul was panned by Democrats — including lawmakers from Connecticut –and some Republicans concerned about its elimination of of the popular deductions for state and local income taxes.
PHILADELPHIA- President Obama met a generally friendly crowd when he spoke to House Democrats at their retreat in Philadelphia Thursday evening, but not every lawmaker is completely on board with the agenda he’s promoting, including Reps. Rosa DeLauro and Jim Himes.
