GOP revises health care bill, but it still falters

WASHINGTON — The latest GOP attempt to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act would continue to ban insurers from rejecting people with pre-existing conditions, but make it easier for insurers to jack up the rates for those customers and for states to roll back other consumer safeguards. It would boost Medicaid money to a handful of states home to key GOP senators. But In what may be the biggest blow to the bill, Maine Sen. Susan Collins said late Monday she would oppose it.

CT Dems slam Senate health bill that endangers state’s Medicaid expansion

WASHINGTON — Connecticut’s senators blasted the GOP plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, but will sit on the sidelines as their divided Republican colleagues try to hash out final details of a “discussion draft” released Thursday. The bill would continue some Obamacare subsidies to help people buy insurance, but could eventually force Connecticut to cut Medicaid coverage for many.

Death of GOP health care bill increases CT Dems’ calls to fix Obamacare

WASHINGTON — With the stunning failure of the GOP to win support for its health care bill Friday, Connecticut Democrats increased their calls for reforms to the Affordable Care Act that would keep it alive. “If they want to work together to enact improvements to the Affordable Care Act, I will be there,” said Rep. Insurers: Repeal of ACA should go slowly, keep subsidies awhile

WASHINGTON – As Republicans in Congress begin work on a repeal of the Affordable Care Act, the nation’s health insurers are telling lawmakers to keep paying subsidies to the companies and to low-income Americans so they can afford coverage. Insurers are also asking that Congress create a long transition period before changes to the ACA take effect.
