State Rep. Bill Wadsworth, R-Farmington, was the pilot of a two-seat helicopter that crashed in Farmington today, injuring his only passenger, a spokesman for the House Republican caucus confirmed tonight.

Wadsworth, who has a license to fly helicopters and is an instructor-rated pilot of hot-air balloons, suffered no significant injuries, but his passenger was hospitalized, the spokesman said.

Wadsworth was elected to the Farmington Town Council in 200 and to the General Assembly in 2010, winning an open Democratic seat by just 41 votes.

As the vice president of an Avon design-build company, he has overseen construction projects at Connecticare and Tunxsis Community College.
