Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley says in his latest TV ad that he has “a plan for making every school in Connecticut great,” a promise that could fall short on two measures: His only published plan is an outline of five bullet points, one of which would strip failing schools of money, potentially hastening their demise.

Quinnipiac Poll: Foley leads Malloy by 6 points in governor’s race

Quinnipiac University’s first survey of the Connecticut governor’s race in four months found Republican Tom Foley leading Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, the first-term Democrat, by 6 percentage points among likely voters with two months left in their campaign. In a poll released Wednesday, Foley’s lead was 46 percent to 40 percent, with petitioning candidate Joe Visconti at 7 percent.

Tom Foley’s campaign manager recommended Rowland

Tom Foley, the 2014 Republican nominee for governor, emerged as a tangential figure Tuesday in the corruption trial of former Gov. John G. Rowland. Brian Foley, no relation to the nominee, testified that Foley’s campaign manager in 2010 and 2014, Justin Clark, recommended Rowland as a political consultant in early 2011 to the 2012 congressional campaign of Brian Foley’s wife, Lisa Wilson-Foley.
